Social Media Day

| Burlington County Library

In 2010, Mashable created Social Media Day, observed annually on June 30, to celebrate the way social media has revolutionized communication and brings together people around the world. Social media has not only changed how we communicate and maintain relationships, but also how we view entertainment, market businesses, and so much more. In fact, for most of us, it’s hard to go a day without social media – and it’s come a long way since AOL Instant Messenger screen names and Myspace Top 8s.

According to Pew Research Center, the top social media platforms in the U.S. include: YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Twitter, WhatsApp, TikTok, and Reddit. Why not celebrate Social Media Day this year by learning a new TikTok dance or creating a post on your favorite platform? Or celebrate the day by just taking a needed break. Remember, it’s important to maintain self-care on social media too. Check out this article for tips on how to take care of yourself in a social media world.
