Meet Bryan
Hello, everyone! I’m Bryan and I’ve been working for BCLS since 2009. As the library’s senior clerk driver, I work on the Mobile Library, traveling around the county to bring books and other resources to customers waiting at our designated stops. We visit senior care facilities, senior neighborhoods and other sites selected to reach people who may have difficulty traveling to one of our branches, as well as some area schools.
My favorite part of the job is seeing all our patrons. We operate on a two-week schedule, which means I go to a different site each day! Our seniors always seem so appreciative because they might not otherwise be able to visit a library. And our students are always excited to climb aboard our current vehicle, a sleek, sprinter van that has been on the road since 2018.
When the Mobile Library is not in service, we park it at the Burlington County Library, which serves as the hub for the entire system. I haven’t worked at any of our other branches, but I was a member of the BCLS delivery team for a few years. In that role, I helped deliver books to each of our locations, so I was able to visit them all. Here’s a fun fact: the Library Company of Burlington is the seventh oldest library in the country!
It’s no secret I’ve been a fan of libraries my whole life. When I was a child, I even volunteered to work in my public-school libraries a few days a week instead of going out for recess. There’s also a BCLS librarian that I have known since I was a kid. At the time, he worked for the circulation department and was always really nice to my Mom and me when we visited the library. Little did I know that years later, I'd be working with him! It's things like that make the library feel like a home away from home.
When it comes to reading, my favorite authors are Mark Moran and Mark Sceurman, and my favorite genres include horror, mystery, comedy and anything about New Jersey. (Another fun fact: I have a boxer/pit bull named Jersey.)
