Cozy Games for Cold Nights!

With the temperature dropping outside, it’s time to start planning for cozy nights inside. Cozy games were all the rage last fall and winter, and we’re bringing them back this year!

A cozy game is a video game genre that emphasizes non-violence and relaxation. Initially derived from the life simulation genre, cozy games commonly include activities such as gathering and growing plants and nurturing other characters. Check out these cozy games you can borrow with your BCLS library card:

Nintendo Switch

  • Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Rated E for Everyone)
    This is probably the most well-known and loved cozy game! Escape to a deserted island and create your own paradise as you explore, create and customize. Your island getaway has a wealth of natural resources that can be used to craft everything from tools to creature comforts. 
  • My Time at Portia (Rated E 10+)
    This is an RPG, life-sim, crafting game that enables players to embark on an open-world adventure to meet and form relationships with a cast of unforgettable faces – all while using an exciting range of game mechanics (including crafting, farming, resource gathering, exploration and much more).
  • Endless Ocean Luminous (Rated E for Everyone)
    Take a deep breath and plunge into the Veiled Sea: an unexplored region with discoveries that change with each dive. Scan sea creatures and learn about more than 500 species of marine life – some of which are presumed extinct, or even mythical!
  • HOA (Rated E for Everyone)
    This is a beautiful puzzle-platforming single-player adventure game that features breathtaking hand-painted art, lovely music, and a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere.   • Little Dragon’s Café (Rated E 10+)
    The story opens with a twin brother and sister learning to cook and manage a small café under their mother's tutelage. All was peaceful and routine until one morning when the twins discover that their mother has fallen into a deep sleep and won't wake up. Suddenly, a strange old man appears to inform them that they must raise a dragon in order to save her. Working together with three quirky café employees, the two siblings must figure out how to a wrangle a dragon and manage the family business while finding a way to save their mother.

Nintendo Wii/Wii-U

  • Cooking Mama. World Kitchen. (Rated E for Everyone)
    With a new 3D look and comedic kitchen mini-games with her little dog Max, Mama and her international friends offer more than 50 new recipes, including Nestle toll house chocolate chip cookies, ratatouille, french fries and pancakes. Prepare ingredients with a real or in-game friend. Use the Wii remote as a universal utensil to chop, grind, slice and stir.
  • Endless Ocean. Blue World. (Rated E 10+)
    The ocean is teeming with life. Hundreds of real-life species are there to be discovered, from seahorses to giant whales. Explore exotic locations, interact with more than 300 species of aquatic life, and search for sunken treasure across the globe.
  • Minecraft (Rated E 10+)
    Build, create, explore. Minecraft is a game about placing blocks and going on adventures. This game is also available for PS4, Xbox One and Xbox 360.

  • Coffee Talk (PS5, Rated M for Mature 17+)
    Coffee talk is a coffee brewing and heart-to-heart talking simulator about listening to fantasy-inspired modern peoples' problems and helping them by serving up a warm drink or two.
