If you’re searching for some cozy reads for the long winter ahead, or if you’re simply on the hunt for a few holiday gifts at bargain prices, swing by the Friends of the Burlington County Library’s four-day books and media sale in December. Grab your shopping bag and head to the library Dec. 5 to Dec. 8 to browse a wide variety of gently used books, DVDs, CDs and more.

In addition, a preview sale offered to Friends members only will be held on Thursday, Dec. 5 from 4 to 6 pm.  (Become a Friends member at the door for $15 per person, $20 per family, or $10 per senior or senior family. It’s a great way to support your local library!)

Just in time for the gift-giving season, the Friends December sale will feature a wide variety of fiction and nonfiction titles organized by category, most priced at just $1 each, including books about art, history, the military, religion, science fiction, sports, STEM, cooking, crafts, gardening, travel, biographies and more. All books are newly donated and have not been featured in previous library sales. Shoppers will also find music CDs and DVDs priced at $1 each, and multiple-set DVDs for $2 each. An assortment of coffee table books on all subjects will also be available in the “special cart area,” each priced at $2.50 and up.

Additional book sale highlights will include:

  • Christmas-themed fiction and craft books, and DVDs
  • Cooking and quilting books
  • Romance and Amish fiction from a private collection
  • A children’s sale area featuring books, videos, puzzles, games, parent/teacher materials, homeschool workbooks and more
  • Comic books for kids ages 7 to 12
  • Books for Civil War enthusiasts from private collectors
  • A limited selection of audiobooks, most from the library’s own collection, priced at $2 each
  • Puzzles and games for adults

All book sale proceeds benefit library programming. Shoppers are encouraged to arrive early to find the best selection and, beginning Thursday, Dec. 5 at 4 pm, the first 300 paying customers will receive $1 coupons valid for future sales. Can’t make it to the December sale? Check out the Friends’ ongoing, open-shelf sale inside the Burlington County Library near the Teen Zone. Browse fiction and nonfiction titles for adults, as well as a variety of children’s books during library hours. All items are priced at $1 each and may be purchased at the circulation desk.

The Friends also welcome donations of new or gently used books and media for future sales. Please leave your items on the “donation cart” located in the rear of the Burlington County Library. (Please do not donate encyclopedias, Reader's Digest editions, magazines, videocassettes, and items in poor or damaged condition.) Thank you for your support!
