You’ll find more than just scaryboo-ks” at the library this fall. You can also trick-or-treat, make a spooky bracelet, create a monster snack and more! We’re hosting Halloween events for all ages and costume sizes at every BCLS branch this October.

Our youngest trick-or-treaters will enjoy stories, parades, music and more:

  • Creepy Craft – Thursday, Oct.10, 6 pm at Cinnaminson Library
    Ages 6-11
    Start the spooky season with a painting inspired by the book Creepy Pair of Underwear by Aaron Reynolds. The final product will glow in the dark! Please dress appropriately for this messy craft. Registration is required.
  • Halloween Preschool Storytime – Thursday, Oct. 24, 1:30 pm at Cinnaminson Library
    Ages 3-6
    Join us for fun stories, activities and a craft. Caregivers are encouraged to participate. Preschool Storytime is also a great time to socialize with other families and meet new friends. Costumes are welcome. Registration is required.
  • Halloween Parade – Friday, Oct. 25, 10:30 am at Burlington County Library
    Ages 2-6
    Join us for a “spooktacular” Halloween parade around the library. Wear your costume and trick-or-treat for a non-food treat.
  • Halloween Costume Storytime – Friday. Oct. 25, 11 am at Riverton Free Library
    Ages 3-6
    Join us for a special Halloween storytime with fun stories, activities and a craft! Costumes are encouraged
  • Halloween Storytime – Tuesday Oct. 29, 10:30 am at Cinnaminson Library
    Ages 5 and under
    Happy Halloween! Children are invited to listen to Halloween stories, sing songs and move along at story time!
  • Trick-or-Treat Test Run – Tuesday, Oct. 29, 11 am at Cinnaminson Library
    Ages 5 and under
    Following our super awesome Halloween Storytime, practice your trick-or-treating skills at the library. The best part? Candy is provided! Costumes are encouraged. Please inform us of any food allergies.
  • A Halloween Music Together – Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2 pm at Evesham Library
    Ages 4 and under
    Wiggling, singing and laughing with your child is so much fun, especially in costume! Adults and their children will learn music activities though play during this Music Together event. Come dressed for some Halloween fun, but please, no scary costumes or weapons. Registration is required.
  • Spooktacular Crafts – Wednesday, Oct. 30, 10 am at Evesham Library
    Ages 6 and under
    Sponsored by the Friends of the Evesham Library. Join us for some Halloween crafts and fun in the Children’s Department. Decorate a monster face, make a trick-or-treat bag, get a temporary tattoo, find the not-so-scary monsters hiding around the library and more. Registration is required.
  • Trick-or-Treat at the Library – Wednesday, Oct. 30, 11:15 am at Evesham Library
    Ages 6 and under
    Sponsored by the Friends of the Evesham Library. Wear your costume or favorite Halloween shirt and join us for trick-or-treating throughout the building. Register for our morning event or just drop in for trick-or-treating. Grab your first treat at the library and then stop by all the offices throughout the building for more treats!
  • Music and Zombie Movement – Wednesday, Oct. 30, 10:30 am at Cinnaminson Library
    Ages 2-5
    Boo! Come make noise at the library. We are going to dance, sing and play – Halloween style!
  • Halloween Crafts and Parade – Wednesday, Oct. 30, 10:30 am at Bordentown Library
    Ages 8 and under
    Join us for a “spooktacular” Halloween parade around the library in your costumes! Afterward, join us for some fun Halloween-themed crafts. Be sure to bring a bag to collect your goodies! Registration is required.
  • Monster Ornaments – Wednesday, Oct. 30, 5 pm at Pemberton Library
    Ages 9 and under
    Drop in any time between 5 to 7 pm to make a spooky craft!  Use stickers to decorate a monster ornament. Registration is not required.
  • Halloween Parade – Thursday, Oct. 31, 10:30 am at Pemberton Library
    Ages 8 and under
    Instead of joining us for Storytime, come in costume for this special parade around the library to trick-or-treat and make a “scary” craft! Registration is required.

For tweens and teens, there are plenty of tricks and plenty of treats:

  • BCL Dungeons and Dragons: Halloween Edition – Tuesday, Oct. 8, 6 pm at Burlington County Library
    Ages 13-15
    Calling all Dungeons and Dragons enthusiasts! Come adventure with us on this special, spooky one-time quest. Registration is required.
  • Tween DIY Halloween Treats – Thursday, Oct. 10, 3:30 pm at Cinnaminson Library
    Ages 10-13
    Join us at the library to prepare for the spookiest and tastiest night of the year! Please inform us of any allergies. Registration is required.
  • Potions Class – Thursday, Oct. 10, 4 pm at Pinelands Library
    Ages 12-15
    Double, double toil and trouble! Learn how to make your own color-changing prop potion, just in time for Halloween! Registration is required.
  • Teen Craft: Ghost Painting – Saturday, Oct. 12, 3 pm at Pemberton Library
    Ages 12-15
    Join other teens for an afternoon craft!  This month, make a spooky ghost painting for an easy holiday decoration. Registration is required.
  • DIY Trick-or-Treat Bags – Thursday, Oct. 17, 4 pm at Bordentown Library
    Ages 7-12
    Join us to make a customizable trick-or-treat bag that will be sure to glow this Halloween. We’ll have stencils to use, or create your own designs! Registration is required.
  • Sewing 101: Zombie Cat – Sunday, Oct. 20, 2 pm at Pemberton Library
    Ages 7-12

    Learn basic sewing skills and make a zombie cat stuffie. Use it as a pin cushion or just as a stuffie! All materials provided. Registration is required.
  • Teen Halloween Jewelry Making – Thursday, Oct. 24, 3:30 pm at Cinnaminson Library
    Ages 13-18
    Join us to make a spooky skull bracelet just in time for Halloween! Other beads will also be available if you aren’t interested in spooky jewelry. Registration is required.
  • Spooky Slime – Thursday, Oct. 24, 4 pm at Bordentown Library
    Ages 7-12
    Visit the library’s slime lab with Ms. Kelly and learn to create your own spooky-themed slime to bring home. All supplies will be provided. Registration is required.
  • Pride Time: Frankendolls – Thursday, Oct. 24, 6 pm at Evesham Library
    Ages 13-17
    Feeling the Halloween spirit? Channel the spirit of Dr. Frankenstein and make your own creation from childhood toys. We’ll have some toys here and you’re free to bring your own dolls/toys for inspiration as well! Let’s make Frankendoll monsters! Registration is required.
  • Teen Halloween Bracelet Craft – Saturday, Oct. 26, 2 pm at Bordentown Library
    Ages 9-15
    Teens will create Halloween-themed bracelets. Other beads will also be available. Registration is required.
  • Tween Movie Night: Beetlejuice – Monday, Oct. 28, 6 pm at Cinnaminson Library
    Ages 10-13
    The spirits of a deceased couple are harassed by an unbearable family that has moved into their home, and hire a malicious spirit to drive them out. Rated PG; running time is 92 minutes. Snacks will be provided. Registration is required.
  • Tabletop Role Playing: Halloween Special Mission – Wednesday, Oct. 30, 5 pm at Bordentown Library
    Ages 13-18
    Join Gamemaster Mr. Jonathan in a special sci-fi horror edition of Tiny Frontiers. This single-session adventure will contain frightening survival horror elements. New players welcome. Game system will be taught to all players. Kids (with parent permission) and teens welcome. We will provide all necessary equipment. Registration is required.
  • An Enchanted Evening – Wednesday, Oct. 30, 6 pm at Burlington County Library 
    Ages 12-15
    Spooky season is here! Join us for an enchanted evening of crafting, brewing up slime, creating star chart snapshots, and transforming tarot cards into bookmarks. Do stop by for a spell! Registration is required.

 

Important things for all little ghosts and goblins to remember:

  • Some events require registration, so sign up to make sure they know you will be haunting that day!
  • For all programs featuring treats, inform library staff of any food allergies your trick-or-treater may have. You can add it to the box on the registration form for other information!
  • Remember that adults accompanying little ghosts get the “phantom tax!” (*IYKYK, if not you might have to ask a tween or a teen!)
