Lote4Kids

Looking for children’s books in languages other than English? LOTE4Kids is the answer!

| Burlington County Library

At BCLS, we strive to create a collection that’s inclusive to all. This includes providing material, especially for children, that reflects the languages spoken by those who share the same household. This can be hard to do with a physical collection. Luckily, we are now able to offer a digital resource that presents a large number of children’s stories in a variety of languages. This resource is called LOTE4Kids (LOTE=Languages Other Than English).

  • LOTE4Kids offers a large number of children’s picture books in 60+ languages, including ASL. Once you access the site, you will be asked to choose a non-English language to receive a listing of books offered in that language. After selecting your title, you can then choose to get it in English, the language you’ve chosen or, for some titles, with a bilingual presentation.
  • Some titles are in a “flipbook” format that enables you to click arrows to turn pages with an audio component. Others are short (4-6 min) videos that don’t offer page control, but present the whole story.
  • Many of the books have activity pages with them in downloadable .pdf format.
  • You can access this resource from home via our website. It is on our Research & Learn page. You’ll just be asked to identify the library (Burlington County Library System) and to provide your library barcode.
  • There is a free LOTE4Kids app. You’ll just need to provide the same information as above.

If you have any questions or need any help with this or any of our other resources or offerings, please don't hesitate to ask!
