According to NASA, “A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. The sky will darken as if it were dawn or dusk.” While we won’t be able to see the “total” eclipse here in NJ, we will get to see a partial eclipse.
At select solar eclipse events, you’ll be provided with a free pair of eclipse viewing glasses which you will need to safely look at the eclipse. Eclipse glasses are provided by the Space Science Institute STARnet program and funded by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. For safe eclipse viewing visit the American Astronomical Society’s webpage.
