The Pemberton Library’s newly renovated Children’s Area is giving young visitors more opportunities to play, explore, create and learn together. As part of a 2026 renovation made possible through state and federal grants, the space was redesigned with families in mind, creating a welcoming and flexible environment for both everyday visits and library programs.
The updated Children’s Area features durable furniture, plenty of tables for families to gather and new opportunities for hands-on play. The existing play area was enhanced with a LEGO© table and new sets for the interactive station, while a new magnet wall encourages children to build, experiment and create. The result is a space where children can explore independently or work and play together.
A dedicated Children’s Learning Center adds another dimension to the space, providing a classroom environment for programs focused on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), early learning, literacy and digital skills. New furniture, storage for STEM kits and technology allow children and families to explore, experiment and learn through hands-on activities.
The first program in the new Learning Center will be Storytelling Studio, a four-part series taking place Tuesdays in October. Designed for children ages 8–12, this hands-on program will invite participants to bring their ideas to life through digital storytelling projects. Registration is limited and opens two weeks before the first session.
