February 6–22, 2026
The excitement of the Winter Olympics is coming to the library! From February 6–22, the world will be watching elite athletes compete in the Winter Olympic Games in the Italian cities of Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo. Athletes will compete in fun sports like skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, hockey and more in the snowy mountains and on the ice.
To mark this global celebration, we’re inviting kids and teens to join our Winter Olympics Reading Challenge on Beanstack, the library’s digital platform for tracking reading. Participants can turn reading time into an Olympic-style competition by logging minutes of reading and earning fun, digital badges along the way.
How the Challenge Works
- Log your reading minutes on Beanstack throughout the challenge.
- Every 15 minutes of reading earns a digital, Olympic-inspired badge.
- Reading can include books, audiobooks, graphic novels and more.
This challenge is based on minutes of reading so every reader can participate at their own pace. Whether you read one book or many, every minute counts.
Who Can Participate?
The Winter Olympics Reading Challenge is open to kids and teens ages 0–17:
- Red Team: Ages 0–5
- White Team: Ages 6–12
- Blue Team: Ages 13–17
At the end of the challenge, the top readers from each age group at every branch will earn a special prize! Each winner will be contacted by their branch.
