Insectropolis: The Bugseum of New Jersey

Creepy crawlies abound at Insectropolis. Fuel their inner entomologist by taking them to the Bugseum of New Jersey. Enjoy a live presentation where you can learn and touch some critters in a bug-themed city, explore the exhibits and walk away with newfound bug knowledge. Open Friday - Saturday from 10 am - 3 pm and Sunday from noon - 5 pm.
Battleship New Jersey
62 Battleship Place, Camden, NJ 08103
Visit a real battleship, the USS New Jersey, and take an interactive tour that allows you to navigate the decks and passageways like a real crew member. The USS New Jersey was built at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard and saw active duty from 1942 to 1991. She is the most decorated battleship in Navy history, having fought in WWII, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Cold War, and conflicts in the Middle East. Open daily 10 am - 4 pm.
Eastern State Penitentiary

Known for its annual haunted walkthrough, Eastern State Penitentiary is open year- round to visitors! Once the most famous and expensive prison in the world, it now stands in ruin with crumbling cell blocks and empty guard towers amongst its impressive architecture. Over the course of its history, the prison held nearly 85,000 people, including famous criminals like “Scarface” Al Capone. Open Wednesday - Monday from 10 am - 5 pm.
Mütter Museum

Have a future doctor, surgeon, or someone just interested in biology and the human body in the family? Explore the Mütter Museum and the Historical Medical Library, and see collections of medical instruments, pharmaceuticals, human specimens and more! Named after Thomas Dent Mütter, a physician, professor, and Fellow of The College of Physicians of Philadelphia, this museum was founded to “lessen human misery” and “advance the cause of health while upholding the ideals and heritage of medicine.” The museum’s collection is 18 percent real human remains, which could be disturbing to young children, so it is recommended for ages 10 and up. Philadelphia Magic Gardens

Originally created by Isaiah Zagar, Philadelphia Magic Gardens is a mixed media art environment in South Philly consisting of two indoor galleries and a bi-level outdoor sculpture garden. The nonprofit now operates independently of Zagar and cultivates the talent and community of artists from around the world. Tours are self-guided and the outdoor garden has limited accessibility for wheelchair users due to the nature of the artwork. Open Wednesday - Monday from 11 am - 6 pm.

You are eligible for membership at any age if you live, work, teach or go to school in any participating Burlington County municipality. BCLS defines membership based upon residency or affiliation. The library operates via a dedicated county library tax collected from Burlington County households in its 37 participating communities. Cards are offered to residents of the participating communities. In addition, many county residents who are ineligible via residency but who work, teach or attend school in participating communities may apply for membership. For more information see below for types of memberships.
- Non-participating municipalities are: Moorestown, Mount Laurel and Willingboro.*
To get a card, you may apply for membership at any library location or by submitting an online application. Applicants submitting an online application must provide identification and proof of residency within 60 days of the application date at a branch. Learn more.
*Non-residents and member of except communities (Mount Laurel, Moorestown and Willingboro) may apply for a library card in person. Payment must be made when application is submitted. A paid membership cover's everyone currently living in the household & provides full access to library services, including borrowing materials, use of public computers, access to online databases and digital collections, and participation in library programs and events.

Yes, our libraries are open to the general public. You are free to browse our collection, attend events, and even use a computer with a guest pass.
BCLS also participates in Reciprocal Agreements with several other counties in New Jersey.
