BORROW BY MAIL

Whether your busy schedule makes it difficult to visit a library or you have other limitations getting in the way, we offer a home delivery service for select library materials. Books and DVDs from our collection can be mailed to your home via the U.S. Postal Service.

  • A service fee of $1.00 per item will be charged to your account.

How do I Borrow By Mail?

Borrowing by mail is easy, just check out the steps and information below to get library materials shipped to your mailbox.

All customers with a library card in good standing are able to utilize our Borrow By Mail service. This excludes Educator/School Media Specialist cards and those residing outside of Burlington County.

  • Books, DVDs, CDs are all available to be delivered by mail.
  • Reference books, magazines, oversized items, Interlibrary Loan and our Device Lending items are not eligible for mail delivery.
  • Customers may request materials from our catalog.
  • When you find an item, click on the "Place hold" button. Login to your account (if you haven't already done so) and look for the "pick-up at" option.
  • Choose "MAIL-$1.00 per item" and we will deliver the item to your address on file.
    • Please be sure that your library account is up to date with your current address before requesting material by mail.
  • A fee will be added to your account.
  • Requests for materials may also be made in person at any library location or by sending an email to mailservice@bcls.lib.nj.us.
  • When a requested item is available on our shelves, it will be packaged and mailed within 2 business days. Please allow 7 to 10 days for delivery.
  • Items requested by library cardholders living at the same address may be mailed together in the same package.
  • The easiest way to return items is to drop off the items at any of our library locations.

Waiver for Homebound Customers

If you are unable to visit a library due to health, mobility or other incapacity issues you may request a waiver of our mailing fee. Please use our homebound certification form with the requested supporting documents to be considered.
