Library Leadership
Library Commission, Chair

Jonathan Chebra
Jonathan Chebra has served as Chair of the Burlington County Library Commission since his appointment in 2019. In this role, Jonathan proudly leads the five-member volunteer Commission which has responsibility for oversight of budgeting, policy, personnel, operations and strategic direction of the Burlington County Library System. During Jonathan’s tenure, the library system has grown its financial reserves, expanded digital and programming offerings, and eliminated fines for late materials.
Even as the Burlington County Library celebrated its 100 year anniversary in 2021, Jonathan has continued to shepherd the library system into its second Century by investing in library facilities and expanding community reach. Today BCLS works with stakeholders across the county and region to ensure the library is a partner to the learning and enrichment goals of each community member.
In his professional capacity, Jonathan serves as Deputy Commissioner for Operations & Chief of Staff at the New Jersey Department of Human Services overseeing department operations and external relations. A graduate of Rider University, he has spent his career in public service and health policy and previously worked for the New Jersey Hospital Association, Assembly Health Chairman Herb Conaway, M.D. and U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg. Jonathan resides in Bordentown City with his wife, Hilary, and their two children.
