Summer is the perfect time to explore everything the library has to offer — and this year’s Summer at the Library theme, “Unearth a Story,” is packed with dinosaur adventures and prehistoric fun. But when the programs end, learning can continue at home with Scholastic Teachables, a free online resource available with your library card.
Designed for educators, parents and homeschool families, Scholastic Teachables offers thousands of ready-to-use educational resources for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Available on the "Parent's & Caregivers" page, the platform includes printable worksheets, mini-books, lesson plans, flashcards, books, study tools and more — all created by teachers and educational experts.
Families can explore the “Family Hub” by grade level to find engaging activities in reading, math, science, handwriting, world languages, arts and crafts and life skills. Younger learners will enjoy interactive mini books focused on phonics and early literacy, while older students can sharpen their skills and prepare for the upcoming school year.
Teachers and summer tutors will also find valuable assessment tools, research materials and creative assignment ideas to keep students engaged throughout the break.
And the summer fun doesn’t stop there. Scholastic Teachables also features dinosaur-themed games, stories, coloring pages and activities that pair perfectly with BCLS’s “Unearth a Story” events. Families can even discover patriotic puzzles and educational activities celebrating America250.
With Scholastic Teachables and a library card, summer learning can stay fun, creative and engaging — all while helping kids avoid the “summer slide.”
