What comes to mind when you think of fall? Maybe a cool breeze blowing crunchy leaves down a cobblestone street? Or a warm mug of tea and a cozy blanket? For many families, however, the fall also means tackling school projects, running to various sports games and getting ready to host the holidays. If you’re looking for a place to visit that will fit into a packed schedule and can keep the whole family entertained, check out this Fall Survival Guide!
For kids there is no shortage of fun to be had, just take a look below:
- Crafty kids can learn to crochet or cross a name off their gift list with the Holiday Craft-a-Thon.
- Got a gamer at home? They can play everything from chess to virtual bowling to Pokémon at the library, and even take a video game home.
- Let them chill out and practice reading with confidence with the help of therapy dog Rooney at our Paws to Read events, or see some of natures’ predators firsthand at Hunters of the Sky.
- Even learning can be fun with digital resources like ABCmouse or Brainfuse, or at events focused on biology and STEM.
Teens will find tons to do at the library, too! They can:
- Put pen to paper with a number of events including Comic Creations, Junk Journaling, and Dungeons and Dragons!
- Have a study session in our dedicated Teen Study Room, which includes a Smart TV for the visual learners in the group.
- Start thinking about what comes next with digital resources like Ferguson’s Career Guidance Center and Peterson’s Test & Career Prep.
Adults won’t feel left out either with:
- Craft activities and book groups geared towards grown-ups.
- Technology classes on everything from AI and 3D-Printing to Microsoft Word and internet safety.
- Information of all types at your fingertips! In addition to new releases and best sellers, the library gives you access to everything from newspapers and scholarly journals to specialized databases on history, finance or law.
And if everyone’s looking for an activity, try one (or all) of these:
- Have a movie night by streaming from Kanopy (free with a library card).
- Find the right title for a family book club with one of our themed reading lists.
- Take in the culture at one of the many performances held in our auditorium.
Whatever your family is into this fall, you'll likely find it at the library!
