Experts Agree – Kids Have Fun at the Library

Gearing up for summer vacation? Consider spending your summer days at your local library! Kids and parents agree - the library is the place to be! Every summer, the library hosts Burlington County families and visitors for reading, play and opportunities for summer learning. Participate in crafts, story times, scavenger hunts and reading challenges all summer long! 

Sign up for the Summer at the Library program starting June 16 by joining the reading and activity challenge on Beanstack, the library’s activity and reading tracker. You’ll find librarian-curated activities and reading lists to stay entertained and informed!

Summer Kickoff Events 

This year’s Summer at the Library theme is “Color Our World” and the following locations are kicking off summer with these special events: 

  • Summer Sidewalk Kickoff
    Pemberton Library - June 16, 2 pm
    All ages are invited to drop by to sign up for the Summer at the Library program and create art with chalk and paint! This may be a messy event, please dress accordingly. 
  • Kickoff to Summer Reading
    Evesham Library - June 16,  4 pm
    Learn about how Summer Reading works at your library! Explore a variety of stations of activities including rock painting, crafts, face painting, Plinko, STEM building and a Scavenger Hunt.
  • Summer Kickoff
    Cinnaminson Library - June 24, 10:30 am
    Join us for a storytime followed by plenty of fun arts and crafts activities.

Lizards at the Library 

Join us for this exciting educational program as The Lizard Guys introduce us to a variety of reptiles and amphibians. One by one, they will hold each animal and explain where it is from, its diet and life expectancy while answering any other questions thrown their way! The Lizard Guys have been educating and entertaining crowds for more than 14 years. Parents, caregivers and children must register to attend this program.

Join us for these spectacular science shows presented by Mad Science! 

  • Digging for Dinos
    Evesham Library - June 19, 10:30 am
    Kids will be introduced to the differences between meat-eating and plant-eating animals. They will have the opportunity to look at some dinosaur teeth up close, and work as paleontologists by participating in a mini dinosaur dig!
  • Mad Machines
    Evesham Library - June 27, 1 pm
    Kids will get to explore simple machines, unravel the power of pulleys and build catapults and claw grabber devices! We'll compile all that we've learned and build our own drag racers to race and take home.
  • Wacky Science
    Pemberton Library - July 11, 2 pm
    This show will tackle several science concepts and will amaze all ages!
  • Wacky Science
    Burlington County Library - July 29, 2 pm
    This fantastic show for all ages will amaze as it conducts several different kinds of science experiments.
  • Spin, Pop, Boom
    Bordentown Library - July 30, 2 pm
    Prepare to be amazed when these scientists defy gravity, play the unique sounds of the didgeridoo tubes and end the show with an explosion of foam!

Magic Shows! 

There will be plenty of magic to go around Burlington County this summer with three unique and amazing magic shows: 

The Wonder of Magic

See objects vanish before your eyes! Watch things float mid-air! Witness all the wonders of magic in this family-friendly entertainment show, filled with illusions, laughter and fun.

Summer Fun with Magic

A brand new magic show that will entertain and delight all ages. Be ready for special surprises, mind-boggling feats and captivating tricks!

Color Our World with Magic

Are you ready to experience the most COLORFUL Magic Show ever performed? Volunteers will help paint a picture by magic, catch a unicorn, see crayons and rainbows appear, change color, and disappear, and help make the impossible happen for a finale that was inspired by "Harold and the Purple Crayon". 

There’s more to see and do at all library branches this summer, so don’t miss out! Registration opens two weeks prior to the events unless otherwise noted in the description.
