Research shows that reading to children at a young age can help them strengthen language skills, build vocabulary and instill a lifelong love of reading. Join our program and help your child reach reading milestones -- one book at a time.

Play at the Library!

We think a visit to the library should be about play and we have built our spaces to reflect that. While reading books helps kids learn new things and explore the vast world around them, play helps with fostering imagination, socialization, problem-solving, and physical and motor skills.

Lego Discovery Table

Visit the Lego Discovery table at the Burlington County Library. the Evesham Library or the Pemberton Library and enjoy a world of creativity, building and imagination as kids use building blocks to create things. Kids learn:

  • playful exploration and possibilities as they craft things during unstructured free-play
  • develop solutions as they plan their "build" and use blocks to reach their goals
  • matching, sorting, making comparisons and spacial awareness as their projects come to life

And because this is such a popular destination, at libraries that have the Discovery table, kids learn to share, take turns and perhaps even collaborate with friends they make around the table!

Activity Stations

Our activity stations for young children and their caregivers are available at the Burlington County Library as well as the Cinnaminson, Evesham, Maple Shade, Pemberton and Pinelands branches. During a visit to any of these locations, children can explore with their imagination and play with new friends!

Experience play time at activity stations with themes like: marketplace, veterinarian office, coffee shop, bakery and construction site.

Parents and caregivers are encouraged to interact with their children in these spaces to help keep children engaged and learning by example. At each station, there are “Parent Tips” posted with suggestions about how to best use the activity stations with little ones.

Magic Desktop

On your next visit your kids can enjoy learning games and "edutainment" on our children's computers equipped with the Magic Desktop application. The suite of offerings provide an ad-free and distraction-free digital environment where kids can engage with learning videos, games, puzzles and activities.

Kids enjoy thousands of educational activities that are age-appropriate, engaging and developmental. Best of all learning happens with a side of fun.
