Welcome to Summer at the Library 2026!

Summer at the Library runs from Monday, June 22 through Saturday, Aug. 15 at all BCLS locations! It’s a time to attend library events, participate in activities and choose your own reading goal. This year’s theme is Unearth a Story, inviting readers of all ages to dig into new stories, discover fresh perspectives and uncover exciting experiences throughout the summer.

How to Participate:

  • Create an account, update your existing account on Beanstack or kids can pick up an Activity Guide and Reading Log at your local branch.
    • If you finished the Activity Guide or want a different way to track your reading, print or pick a Reading Log Bookmark.
  • Track your reading minutes on Beanstack to earn digital badges and celebrate your progress.
  • Log activities on Beanstack.
  • Complete book reviews on Beanstack.
  • Attend programs at your library.

We’re trying something new this year – participants will track the minutes they spend reading instead of the number of books they finish! For every 30 minutes of reading, children, teens and adults will earn digital badges on Beanstack.

In addition to our traditional annual Summer Reading Challenge, participants can take part in two additional Beanstack challenges:

  • Summer Reading 2026: Find Your Reading Joy! (From June1-July 31)
  • America 250 Challenge (From July 1-July 31)

The reading minutes logged during the dates will count for all challenges you’re registered for, so make sure to register for all available challenges to earn more digital badges!

Beanstack’s mobile app is available for free and compatible with Apple and Android devices. The mobile app is perfect for families; its barcode scanner makes it easy to log books for all readers linked to an account!

Take a trip to your local library or browse our events online to see the activities lined up for you all summer long!
